Parrot Zik Wireless Headphones Review

The Parrot Zik Wireless Headphones arrived in cool packaging and connected easily to my iPhone. The free app adds multiple features and ways of shaping your music. The sound quality of these ‘phones is excellent – well defined bass, though mid range is a little muddy. Top frequencies are fine but, as these are often hardest for ‘phones (and speakers come to that) to reproduce accurately, lacked ‘realism’ for me. Noise reduction is impressive – most of the usually irritating external sounds are suppressed.

Parrot Zik Wireless Headphones Review

2.0 by Philippe Starck

Well, bought these after tiring of cables, and experimenting with a cheaper pair of wireless headphones, which I liked but kept falling off my head  🙂

I’ve used on a train and they worked well – people speaking close by are still audible, though are soon lost in the music/sounds from the ‘phones. There’s even an adjustable ‘street mode’, where the microphones pick up SOME external sounds – useful if you’re concerned about your surroundings.

Perhaps most importantly, the wireless function of the ‘phones is outstanding; I still receive a strong signal in the next room from my iPhone, though 2 rooms away it starts dropping, which I think is fine for what Bluetooth is able to achieve. Oh, and they are EXTREMELY comfortable to wear for long periods of time ? The touch sensitive right headset (for pause, forward, reverse, etc.) I found easy to use and responsive. I haven’t used them for a call on my ‘phone yet…that is to come!

My only gripes (hence 4 stars):

  • battery life – I get the expected 6 hours, but this is less than many other ‘phones in the Parrot’s class (that said, they do charge up pretty quickly using any USB charger)
  • it’s easy to accidentally turn off the ‘phones when adjusting them on your head! (the on/off button is at the back of the right hand headset) – not a deal breaker but something to be aware of
  • connecting to different devices can be a pain – I mainly use my iPhone, but switching to an iPad or (worse) laptop requires multiple buttoning

But, overall pleased with the purchase, and would recommend if they’re within your budget
